The Groom's Outfit

Here is a post for all the grooms!. I thought it was about time to give them some tips and advice and help them out too. We don't want them feeling left out now do we! Of course the groom's outfit is just as important as the bride's dress and the groom wants to feel and look his best on his wedding day.

I would advise the groom to get his suit 3-4 months before the wedding. Sometimes it is not a simple task and the groom does not want to leave it til the last minute causing unnecessary panic. We want everything to run as smooth as possible.

The groom will need to get measured up and make sure that his suit fits him properly, just like the bride will need to for her dress. Picking up a suit off the rack is definitely a no no - you may find out the hard way if you do. If alterations are needed it can all add up and you will find yourself spending more money than what you had budgeted for. The cost for alterations can cost just as much, if not more than what the cost would be to get a professional to measure you.  You will also  want to feel comfortable in your suit- wearing your wedding suit all day and not feeling comfortable is not going to make the day as enjoyable, it's a very long day!

Again like the bride's dress - you will need to take into consideration the theme of your wedding such as the venue, colour, season, flowers etc. This will all help you to determine the style of the suit that you choose. The last thing you want to do is turn up in a suit that is for a beach themed wedding when you are having a church wedding and your venue is in a stately manor, I don't think the bride is going to be too happy!. Normally the Groom and Ushers colour coordinate with the bridesmaids, matching their colour dresses with your tie, pocket square, suit trims on the sleeves and linings of the suit jackets. This really does look great and makes your photographs really stand out.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mark Khan, the founder of J&E and I can not recommend his work enough. He certainly has a passion to design suits that are truly unique and personal to the individual, oozing class, sophistication and above all quality.  Mark's designs and tailorship skills are excellent creating the most luxurious bespoke wedding suits that I have ever seen.

Marks inspiration comes from the mid 1960's with the the likes of Sean Connery, Steve McQueen and Paul Newman sporting those sharp lines in their suits. (Look at the films in that era - such as Goldfinger, The Thomas Crown Affair and Torn Curtain). Mark brings this look into designing his suits creating a modern up to date twist that will make you stand out on your big day in your individual bespoke wedding suit.

Mark believes that style is a way to say who you are without having to speak, I must say I have to agree with that.  Mark will create your perfect modern bespoke wedding suit that is unique to you, to give you your individual style with the right combination of fit, colour and subtle details that will define your style. For example he will use of course only the very best fabric like Loro Piana with rich colour saturation, complementary patterned lining with contrast piping details and of course all the other details that will be unique to you e.g   slim trousers just "kissing " the top of the shoe, shorter jacket length and vents..... Sounds fabulous doesn't it! . Mark believes it is the simple touches that add style. What ever your preference Mark will be there to work with you to design and create a suit that will make you feel your best.

Mark sees himself as a bespoke stylist, working together with the client deciding on all the details to create and design your suit in a very personal way.  He wants his clients to think of him as his stylish mate!. He will help you to create your bespoke wedding suit so you feel and look good, to stand out on your wedding day. Once you and Mark have worked together and discussed your requirements he then gets to work, designing and crafting  your unique suit which can take anything from 3 to 6 weeks.

All of Mark's prices are fixed, which means which ever category you choose your budget will not change. There are no hidden extras.

If you have always wanted a tailor made designer suit then now is your perfect time. Your wedding day only happens once in a lifetime, so make it as special as possible.

You can visit Mark in London Canary Wharf, The City, Mayfair or Rickmansworth or special arrangements can be made for a visit beyond these areas.

Book a consultation with Mark to discuss your requirements such as design, cloth, lining, features, style etc.... and if you're happy for Mark to proceed with your suit he will take your measurements and you could be having your 1st fitting in 3 to 6 weeks!

Which Style Wedding Dress For My Figure?

Which style wedding dress for my figure? It's a question that many brides don't even think

The Mother of the Bride & Groom outfits!

It's such an exciting time for you, your husband to be and all the family, everyone just loves a wedding and for the Mum's this is a very special time and they want to look their best! Your Mum's I expect are so excited and just can not wait to get their outfits, before they do it's time to give them all the information they need to know.
  Time to talk!

The Bridesmaids!

When you and your husband to be have finally set a date for your wedding it's time to pop the question to your bridesmaids to be! Or is it?
You may know exactly what friends you want to be bridesmaids and have always known, or maybe you are unsure. Your going to be feeling excited and can't wait to tell your friends that your wedding date has been set, excitement can sometimes lead to us not thinking straight and not thinking about the cost, yes I'm talking about the budget! Before you make any decisions you need to sit down with your husband to be and look at your budget, ask yourself the questions, can we afford to have bridesmaids? How many can we afford? Once you have decided you need to really think about what friends you want, they are going to be the ones that will be by your side throughout your wedding planning and of course they have a big role in your wedding planning too.

Eco Friendly Wedding!

I had the pleasure of getting to know Sinem from B&D Wedding Event Planning.  Sinem loves the art of brainstorming, crafting and telling a story when designing a wedding event. I asked her what advice she could give a bride that wants a eco friendly wedding, here is the fantastic advice she gave!

Wedding Cake Inspiration!

Talented and creative bakers are designing wedding cakes all over the world that I can only describe as magnificent works of art!
I do not think the traditional white wedding cake will ever go out of fashion but now the modern bride and groom are looking for that something different and that is unique to them and so are getting more daring. Luckily for those of you that are looking for something different you can now choose any style, shape, size, colour and flavour etc.... cakes that are available now are spectacular and the designs Just keep getting better, I personally think they look too good to eat, I am sure though when you do, it will be a taste never to be forgotten!
The work that goes into making these marvellous cakes can take long hours and lots of skill, designing, carefully adding every little detail to make every wedding cake unique to every bride and groom. Beautiful coloured icing in a variety of  pastels or vibrant colours, edible flowers, torn paper icing or a graffiti style cake with gold leaf , the choice is endless and the designs are getting more and more dramatic. Apparently we will be seeing more geometric shapes with sharp angles and marbled textured colours, sounds fabulous.
Cake flavours that are fun & quirky are all in, to name Just some of them flavours we have red velvet, peanut butter, chocolate and mocha, champagne and strawberry, ginger spice, coffee and cream, hazelnut and almond, caramel and Banana, chocolate and cherry and key lime. These Gorgeous flavours are what the modern bride and groom are now choosing and they will certainly tantalise your taste buds and get your wedding guests talking. I think I would have to go for the chocolate and cherry, that sounds like heaven to me!
The semi naked wedding cake has proved extremely popular and still is and I think will continue too. Couples wanting to move away from the traditional cake and that are going for the rustic vintage style wedding then this cake is perfect. Adding fresh edible flowers and seasonal fresh fruits like summer berries, with butter cream in a flavour of your choice.

Bridal Makeup!

I think we all deserve some pampering on our wedding day and makeup can give us that little boost to make us feel confident, beautiful and it finishes off our wedding day look!

The Wedding Rings!

Wedding ring shopping is so exciting!
I just love this part, It gives you and your partner some fun time together. I would recommend buying your rings about 3-5 months prior to your wedding day, this gives you plenty of time to browse the shops and find them perfect rings and also if you need any alterations done. Of course choosing your Wedding rings will be one of the most important decisions you will make, so don't get too carried away and choose the first ring that you try on.
You will obviously have a budget for your wedding rings so try sticking to it, it is very hard when trying on all those stunning rings and the last thing you want to do is go over your budget and leave yourself short for the rest of your wedding planning, keep your head screwed on and dont get too caught up in the moment, it's easily done, believe me!.

Princess Eugenie, The Real Princess Wedding!

How beautiful did Princess Eugenie look, a real Princess!
She looked radiant and was beaming as the world looked on her to get the first glimpse of her stunning dress. Her dress was so elegant with a romantic look, and yes she really did wow the crowds. The dress featured a folded neckline across the shoulders, with an open back, which was her idea as she wanted to show off her long standing battle against scoliosis. The dress had long sleeves with a full flowing train with delicate lace detailing, she truly looked amazing. I just loved how the dress fitted into her waist and then gracefully flowing out over her hips with a full length flowing train, it was created layer by layer from the corset designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher DeVos who work from their studio in London.

The Wedding Shoes!

One of my favourite parts of planning a Wedding is choosing the Shoes, us girls love Shoes and when the day comes that we can choose our Wedding Shoes we can finally get those princess shoes that we all dreamt of when we were little, see some dreams do come true!

So many brides are getting more adventurous when choosing their Wedding Shoes and colour is becoming very popular indeed. Blue, Blushed pinks, Mint and Aqua are all popular colours.  The Rainbow Club who have been designing, making and colouring handmade satin Wedding Shoes since 1986 offer a free and special service where they hand dye your wedding shoes, new or old to any colour you desire, how fab is that!. Your new shoes will be hand coloured by one of their specialist colour techincians and be delivered straight to your door. Here are just some of the Wedding Shoe designs available from the Rainbow Club.

5 Things To Discuss When You're Newly Engaged! By My Guest Blogger Guides For Brides

5 Things To Discuss When You're Newly Engaged

Congratulations, you’re engaged! Before you start to pin wedding dress pictures or visit venues, it’s important to sit down with your other half to discuss a few important issues. When wedding planning, you need to be on the same page and working towards the same vision, so Guides for Brides have listed the top five things to discuss before you put any money down...

Wedding Hair Inspiration!

What Hair Style will you choose for your wedding day?
If your looking for wedding hair inspiration then your on the right page!. I think we all have a image in our minds of how we would like to look on our big day, its only once we start looking at images online that it can make our decision even harder because there are so many different styles to choose from.

The Younger Guests!

Weddings are all about family so for those that have a large family will most likely have relatives with children or maybe you have children yourself, if that is the case then having children attend your wedding is a must. You may of course not want children at your wedding and if that is the case then you need to make sure that you let the parents know when sending out the wedding invitations, I have done a post all about your wedding invitations.

2019 Wedding Dress Trends!

The traditional white bridal dress will always be around but designers are now looking through the eyes of every woman to make every individual brides dream come true so they can have their perfect fairytale wedding dress. With so many different designs to choose from, there will be a dress you fall in love with!

Wedding Favours

Traditionally five sugar almonds were given as favours to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness. The bitterness of the almond and the sweetness of the coated candy are a metaphor for the bitter sweetness of a marriage. Well today it's all changed!

Bridal Hair

Deciding on which hairstyle you want for your special day all comes down to the style dress you choose and of course the theme of your wedding (if you have one that is). I choose a vintage style dress and my venue was in a Victorian manor so the hairstyle I choose went with my style dress and venue.

Wedding Invitation

I would advise you to get your invitations sent out 12 months in advance or as soon as you have a date booked for your wedding, especially if your wedding is in the summer months. Letting your guests know as early as possible will give them a chance to clear their calendars, make necessary travel arrangements and plan around your wedding date. If you don't want to send out the invitations that early then another option is a save the date card, which I think is a great idea, you can send out your invitations when your ready then, although I wouldn't leave it too close to the date as guests will also have their planning to do too, I would say no later than 12 weeks in advance if you are doing it that way.

Your wedding photos will be yours to keep for the rest of your life and to share with family and friends memories of your special day!
