Fairytale Wedding Planning in the UK: Wedding Cake Inspiration!

Wedding Cake Inspiration!

Talented and creative bakers are designing wedding cakes all over the world that I can only describe as magnificent works of art!

I do not think the traditional white wedding cake will ever go out of fashion but now the modern bride and groom are looking for that something different and that is unique to them and so are getting more daring. Luckily for those of you that are looking for something different you can now choose any style, shape, size, colour and flavour etc.... cakes that are available now are spectacular and the designs Just keep getting better, I personally think they look too good to eat, I am sure though when you do, it will be a taste never to be forgotten!
The work that goes into making these marvellous cakes can take long hours and lots of skill, designing, carefully adding every little detail to make every wedding cake unique to every bride and groom. Beautiful coloured icing in a variety of  pastels or vibrant colours, edible flowers, torn paper icing or a graffiti style cake with gold leaf , the choice is endless and the designs are getting more and more dramatic. Apparently we will be seeing more geometric shapes with sharp angles and marbled textured colours, sounds fabulous.
Cake flavours that are fun & quirky are all in, to name Just some of them flavours we have red velvet, peanut butter, chocolate and mocha, champagne and strawberry, ginger spice, coffee and cream, hazelnut and almond, caramel and Banana, chocolate and cherry and key lime. These Gorgeous flavours are what the modern bride and groom are now choosing and they will certainly tantalise your taste buds and get your wedding guests talking. I think I would have to go for the chocolate and cherry, that sounds like heaven to me!
The semi naked wedding cake has proved extremely popular and still is and I think will continue too. Couples wanting to move away from the traditional cake and that are going for the rustic vintage style wedding then this cake is perfect. Adding fresh edible flowers and seasonal fresh fruits like summer berries, with butter cream in a flavour of your choice.

The drip cake is so versatile and so you can make it work with any cake design, for sure it looks irresistible and definitely gets you drooling! adding fresh flowers or macrons makes it look even more irresistible.

If you are looking for a cake with colour then the ombre wedding cake looks amazing. Try two or three different colours blended to create a hue of colours. You could go for bright or pastel colours, most couples go with the colour theme of their wedding. Rose gold, white and pastel pink looks amazing.

White iced cakes with textured icing and exquisite sugar flowers with an exceptional level of detailing, these beautiful cakes look so elegant and pretty. your guests will be amazed!

The hand painted cake is fabulous! choosing which ever design you desire to be painted onto your cake shows your guests yours and your partners personality. This style cake will go with any themed wedding.

The metallic wedding cake adds that bit of glamour to your wedding, in gorgeous colours of gold, rose gold and silver, they really look elegant, dazzling and for sure make a statement.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Sophie Page from Coventry, her cakes really are stunning!
She loves creating beautiful wedding cakes specially tailored to the needs and desires of the couple. Read on to see what Sophie says about her cakes

I like to design show stopper cakes, whether that means tall towering tiers, unusual designs or simply by striking use of colour. Many clients aspire to a cake that's unique, wanting to impress their guests with both design and taste and so come to me with varying ideas with which I can then create a beautiful design based. There are always trends in the wedding industry.
The semi-naked cake is still going strong but has now evolved from the typical rustic look into something more elegant and eye catching.
Gold is such a brilliant and popular choice for many designs and I love to include it either in delicate touches or bold gold leaf sheeting, It adds opulence to any design and is definitely a colour trend that won't be going away any time soon.
Textures are another big movement at the moment. There are so many ways of introducing this into a cake the fondant can be shaped into tree bark, edible lace applique can be applied for a delicate look, sugar pearls and embossing add light and shade and a butter cream finish is something that offers amazing versatility and great for couples that aren't keen on fondant.
Wedding cakes are a really exciting industry to be a part of and right now the options are endless for couples that want something really striking and exclusive for their special day.
