Fairytale Wedding Planning in the UK: Which Style Wedding Dress For My Figure?

Which Style Wedding Dress For My Figure?

Which style wedding dress for my figure? It's a question that many brides don't even think

about. I have said in previous posts, we all have an image in our minds of how we want to look on our big day and that image doesn't change until we step foot into the bridal gown shop for our very first fitting. We start looking at all the beautiful gowns on display, looking for that dress that we have always imagined and then the wedding dress consultant suggests you try on certain dresses that your not quite sure about. Trust your consultant and remember that she or he is trained to know what style dresses suit your figure and will be most flattering for you, don't be afraid to try on different styles that you never thought you would. It is not until you try on the different style dresses that you realise that actually you do feel and look good, it's then that you open your mind to different styles and that image you have always had, slowly disappears!
I am going to help open your mind before you go for your dress fitting and tell you what wedding dress styles suit your shape best and make it a little easier for when you go for your dress fitting. These wedding dress consultants are very busy and most appointments can only last one hour, time fly's when your having fun!

We all come in different shapes and sizes which is why it is so important to choose the best style dress for your body shape. You want to look and feel great on your wedding day.

A- Line - Lets start with this style dress, it is a classic! Its always going to be popular and never seems to go out of fashion. It will suit every shape as it is extremely flattering and especially for the pear shape. The bodice is fitted and then the skirt flares over the hips. The A- Line style is alot like the ballgown style, the A- Line skirt has not got as much volume as the ballgown skirt but it does the same thing, it just depends on how much volume you want. If you want to stay safe then go for this style.

Mermaid / Fishtail - suits the hourglass. Figure hugging and drops out at the knee. If you have curves and want a style that looks gorgeous, sexy and classy then this style is for you. This style is definitely my favourite as this is the style dress I choose for my wedding day. This style will really show off your figure, I just love it!

Ballgown- This style suits most figures, again it is perfect for the pear shape as if you are smaller on top the bodice can accentuate the waist while the big puffy skirt can balance out the lower body covering your parts that you may want to disguise. The skirt has alot of volume so can be quite a heavy dress with having layers of underskirt and tulle. For the shorter bride I would avoid this style as the large skirt can make you look even shorter.

Sheath - This style looks elegant, classy, sophisticated, sexy and is perfect for the taller, athletic figure brides, although it can work for the shorter bride too, again creating the illusion of height. The style follows your body's shape, is figure hugging and really accentuates your figure, some sheath styles can be straighter like a column.

Empire - For the shorter bride this style is for you and especially if you are smaller on your top half. Tall brides stay away from this style as it can almost look tent like on you. This style is flattering for the bride who doesn't like their bums, tums and thighs, the more fuller figure bride and also the petite bride as it creates the illusion of long legs. It nips under your bust then flows over your hips covering the parts that you want to disguise. It is also a great choice for a Boho or beach wedding.
