Fairytale Wedding Planning in the UK: The Mother of the Bride & Groom outfits!

The Mother of the Bride & Groom outfits!

It's such an exciting time for you, your husband to be and all the family, everyone just loves a wedding and for the Mum's this is a very special time and they want to look their best! Your Mum's I expect are so excited and just can not wait to get their outfits, before they do it's time to give them all the information they need to know.
  Time to talk!

The Mothers of the bride and groom will want to look their best on your wedding day, not only will eyes be on you but on them too, they are an important part of the wedding party. I would imagine that your Mum's have both been well informed about your wedding, if not then its a good idea to get both Mum's together to discuss what you expect of them on your special day and give them as much information as possible to help them choose their wedding outfits. If you are struggling then send them a link to my wedding blog to read this post, I promise you they'll love it and it will give them advice, tips and information for choosing their outfits and it will help you too!

Here is a list of everything you need to take into consideration when choosing the Mother Of the Bride and groom outfits:

I would advise your Mum's to start searching for their outfits about 6 months prior to your wedding, leaving it closer to the time can cause unnecessary stress, panic and  may cause them to end up choosing an outfit that they are not fully happy with, they want to feel amazing, comfortable and confident in their outfits, this is a special day. The Wedding photographs are going to be theirs and yours for your memories to share for the rest of your life and they are the one thing you can actually take away from your special day, so feeling your best is a must as it will show in the photographs if their not. It is also a good idea to go with your Mum's when they choose their outfits, it will help them and you can give them your opinions, tips and most importantly make sure they are sticking with the theme of your wedding. They will want to get it right!

Firstly and most importantly the bride and groom should be the guides, after all it is your wedding day! So as I said you need to give your Mum's as much information about your wedding as possible.

What is the theme of the wedding? Try sticking with the theme. You don't want the Mum's turning up wearing vintage style when you have a Boho themed wedding!

If you have a colour theme which you most likely will then they will need to choose a colour that will go well with the bridesmaids dresses. For example if your bridesmaids are wearing a cool pastel blue then maybe going for a grey outfit and adding cool pastel blue accessories. You don't won't want them to clash with your bridesmaids.

The venue is also something that you should be thinking about, this too will help determine what style outfit your Mum's will choose.

If the wedding is a formal occasion then the Mum's could really make a statement, opting for a classy suit style dress, with jacket to match maybe and a hat or fascinator would look great.

If the wedding theme is Boho, beach or in a hotter climate then I would suggest going for a more flowing relaxed outfit with less accessories. If your Mum's are confident showing off their arms then this is a chance for them to opt for a strapless or straps dress.

When thinking about the fabric I don't think it really matters what the Mum's choose as long as they feel comfortable that's the main thing. Adding lace can make an outfit look sophisticated, silk and satin can look classy and sleek, linen is great for the summer months but can crease easily so be aware, polyester is great as it has stretch so is comfortable, especially after the sit down meal when your feeling a little stuffed!

Another thing that the Mum's really need to consider is footwear. Please please make sure their footwear is comfortable.  The Wedding day is long! So choosing a decent comfortable pair of shoes is a must and like the bride they should wear them in before the wedding. We all know what it's like when we get a new pair of shoes! It takes a while for our precious feet to adapt.

I hope I have helped you all and given you some useful information that you can use to help all your lovely Mum's. Remember this is a special time not only for you but your Mum's too, get them involved as much as you can and make them feel part everything, these memories will last forever.
