Keeping Your Hopes & Dreams Alive

I write this on Tuesday 14th April 2020, with tears in my eyes. We have been in lockdown for 21 days due to Covid-19, a nation wide pandemic that is causing us to live in a world that we have never known.

12,107 lives in the UK have already been taken by this awful disease, which has left thousands of people grieving and heartbroken for their family and friends that have been sadly taken from us - my heart goes out to you all.

Fear, anxiety, confusion, frustration and sadness are just some of the emotions that we are all feeling at the moment. Not knowing what the future may hold for all of us, the unknown of what will be and the uncertainty of when all of this will actually end. The reality of it all is that we are all living in hope, that one day we can all start living how we used to live once this is all over. 

 Thousands of businesses across the world have sadly had to close their doors, including the many suppliers in the wedding industry.

Of course this has had a huge impact on all the wedding suppliers who are the ones who help turn couples visions in to reality to create the wedding of their dreams.

To name a few - Venues, Photographers, Videographers, Venue Stylists, Wedding Planners, Catering, Hair & Make-up Artists, Car Hire, Entertainment and so many more. Hope is not lost.

So many couples have been left heart broken as their dream weddings that they have been planning for the last couple of years have had to be postponed. Although their hope is not lost.

For some suppliers they have unfortunately had to close their doors permanently as financially they can not afford to stay open - will this be the end of the wedding industry? Most definitely not... love, hope and faith is something that every single one of us have. Sometimes we lose the strength from inside us and give up, but when times are hard and the people that love and care come together, we become stronger.

Love is something that will never die, which is why all you couples that have had to postpone your weddings this year will know that next year will be your time. You have hope inside of you, given by the love of each other which gives you both your own special faith and strength.

Faith is not a religion to me, it maybe to you, so please don't think that this is what I am trying to say - it is my belief through my own experiences in life, I have faith in myself. I believe faith is what is in all of us, religious or not, along with love and hope.

I was healthly and fit, running 5 miles 5 days a week, I was a mobile Hair Stylists - yes I've had the pleasure of being part of many weddings, creating bridal hairstyles for lots of beautiful brides. Infact Hairdressing was my dream job since I was little and I loved it up until my whole life changed about 7 years ago.  Fear, anxiety, confusion, frustration and sadness were some of the emotions that I felt back then, the same as what we are all feeling right now.

I found my body slowly getting weaker, severe pain in my muscles and eventually not being able to walk or function. I had lots of different symptoms, too many to write. I attended so many hospital appointments, with so many different amazing consultants and specialists that I can not thank enough - I'm sure that many of them will now be working hard trying to save the lives of all the people that are now being effected by this awful disease.
Unfortunately the job I loved had to end, the Mother that I was had to end and I began to fight for my life. To cut a very long story short I was was diagnosed with a mixed connective tissue disease- my immune system went in to over drive and mistakingly started to attack my body internally, attacking muscles, nerves, organs etc. It can be life threatening. 

There's no cure but medications will help slow progression and help your symptoms and if you are very lucky you can go in to remission.

Not being able to be the person I once was was the hardest thing I've ever had to except in my life, but I did and eventually I loved the new me.

I adapted to my new life and changed my career - I'm now the author and founder of Fairytale Wedding Planning in the UK and get to help thousands of couples that are planning their weddings. I wasn't going to let this illness stop me from doing anything and learnt that to get to where I wanted to be was going to take time, patience and positivity.
 I also get to work with amazing, talented and creative people that work in the wedding industry, that really care and want to help couples to create their dream weddings. These are the people that work behind the scene to make sure your day runs as smooth as possible to create the most happiest of memories for you to look back on for the years to come.

Above all I get to be Mum to my beautiful children, and not forgetting my biggest strength my husband. I no longer take anything for granted and appreciate every moment.

I am happy to say that with love, hope and faith from family and friends my fight has won. No I'm not the person I used to be, but I can certainly live with the new me.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that your special day will come round. Everyone that works in the wedding industry has a passion and a love for what they do, they wouldn't be in it if they didn't - after all, love is what they all believe in. So, keep holding on to your hopes and dreams and you will have your Fairytale dream wedding and we'll be here to help you every step of the way.
